As a plus-size woman, Brenda says she would like to “feel more freedom” about her fashion choices and to learn how to change her mind-set when it comes to the styles she believes she should wear to flatter her figure.

Hi, I’m Brenda!

Our stylist, Krystle Marks, identified Brenda’s body shape as a classic hourglass. Women with this figure type have an ample bust, curvy hips and a defined, slimmer waist. By incorporating tailored pieces, shaped jackets and wrap-waist features, Krystle will help Brenda to explore new and unexpected silhouettes and styles that work wonderfully with her frame.

“My weight has fluctuated over the years,” says Brenda. “When I was a smaller size, I tended to be a bit more adventurous in the way I dressed. As I aged and gained weight, I felt a little less comfortable. This makeover has gotten me to try some different looks and styles.”

Outfit #1: That’s a Wrap!

Stylist Krystle Marks chose this figure-flattering Bombshell Dress in a head-turning hue for Brenda. “She can really wear red confidently,” Krystle notes. “The faux-wrap front calls attention to Brenda’s small waist, and the deep V-neckline and graphic necklace draw the focus upward, toward her face.” The quilted-finish Chevron Diamond Tote and a two-tone silver cuff bracelet continue the ensemble’s classic feel. With its sexy cutout sides, the Elise Ankle Strap pump adds a touch of texture with solid and faux-snakeskin finishes.

Outfit #2: Turn up the Texture

Brenda rocks this fiercely feminine look with the shapely Fan Colorblock Dress, paired with the Chain-Link Jacket. “The colorblocking and the faux-wrap style of the dress are very flattering to Brenda’s figure type,” says stylist Krystle Marks. “The jacket’s quilted texture adds interest and a sense of youthfulness, while bringing a bit of edge to the outfit.” The Two-Tone Slingback contributes a pop of cobalt, and the pointy toe elongates Brenda’s legs. The Multi-Strand Earrings echo the metallic accents of the jacket’s chain-link trim.

Outfit #3: Glamour on the Go!

Stylist Krystle Marks combines curve-conscious pieces to showcase Brenda’s shape to its best advantage. “It’s good to go with fabrics and silhouettes that graze your figure, rather than cling to it,” she says. “This Draped Dress floats away from the body at the waistline, and the V-neckline is a flattering choice for Brenda.” Krystle tied the belt of the Dapper Denim Trench in back to further emphasize Brenda’s hourglass silhouette. When it comes to accessorizing, Krystle combined harmonizing neutral gray and cognac shades with the quilted-finish Chevron Diamond Tote and the Snakeskin-Trim Pump. Luxe-looking goldtone bracelets and earrings complete the stylish look.

Outfit #4: The Chic Way to Do Denim

Brenda shines in this comfortably casual outfit with perfectly polished appeal. According to stylist Krystle Marks, “a skinny jean with a dark wash looks great on all figure types,” and the Bella Control Pull-On Jean that Brenda is wearing has a touch of spandex for even more figure flattery. “The Tricia Blazer has a little shape, and we rolled up the sleeves for a more relaxed feel,” Krystle explains. “The faux-wrap waist of the Spellbound Blouse looks very slimming underneath.” With its goldtone accents and faux-reptile pattern on the back, the Casey Bootie edges up the look, while goldtone bracelets and stud earrings bring on the bling. A statement-making necklace picks up the blazer’s plum hue and directs the eye upward, toward Brenda’s face.
