Some of spring’s most exciting fashion trends this year are prints and patterns, with vibrant florals, graphic color blocking and tons of other fun options making their way across spring runways.

While plus-size women are sometimes told they shouldn’t wear clothing with a lot of patterns, it simply isn’t true. In fact, this season’s prints will look great on any body type. If you love showing off your personality with bright clothes and fun designs, take a look at spring’s pattern and print trends and how you can style them:

Any woman can look amazing in spring's trending prints and patterns.

On-trend prints and patterns
You may think you’ve seen this spring’s trendy patterns, but they’re bigger, bolder and more colorful than they’ve ever been before. Here are some of the common prints and patterns to rock this spring:

  • Florals: Floral prints aren’t new when it comes to spring fashion, but they’ve definitely been upgraded this year. Look for graphic all-over floral patterns on everything from skirts to blouses, dresses and pants. The bolder and more vibrant the print, the better, so don’t shy away from bright colors and larger patterns.
  • Color blocking: Color-block dresses and tops were seen on several runways this year, but they were a little different than the symmetrical color-block patterns of years past. For 2015, the print is asymmetrical, which makes the color-block clothes flattering and statement-making.
  • Geometric colors: Multi-hued geometric patterns are another popular trend this spring. Have fun wearing these dresses, skirts and tops with tons of bold colors in a mixture of geometric shapes.
  • Boho prints: Finally, women who love tribal and Bohemian patterns are in luck, since they’re also great styles to wear this spring. Try the Boho look on flowing tunics, dresses and scarves. Even safari-style animal prints are making a comeback!

Tips for wearing patterns and prints
Plus-size women sometimes shy away from bold prints and patterns, but they can actually be extremely flattering. There’s no reason why curvy ladies shouldn’t go for clothes with the patterns they love! Here are some guidelines for trying this spring trend:

Pair it with a solid
All-over prints can be very becoming, but some women don’t want to wear a busy pattern from head to toe. Try pairing one patterned clothing item with something solid. A graphic-printed skirt or a pair of pants with tribal designs looks stylish with a plain solid-colored top. The print still makes a statement without feeling overwhelming.

Try pairing one patterned clothing item with something solid.

Say yes to any size
You’ve probably heard people advise curvy women to stay away from prints that are too large or too small, but whether a pattern is huge or tiny, it can still be flattering. Remember that what’s most important for showing off your curves in a complimentary way is how each garment fits and whether it highlights your favorite features. Look for quality materials, interesting necklines and flattering cuts to find pieces that will look amazing on you.

Have fun
This trend is all about showing off your fun personality and letting your confidence shine. Wear outfits that make you feel inspired and energized, and you’ll be sure to turn heads.

  1. When I think of Spring, I think of the classical look of Audrey Hepburn and the always popular Nautical look. The striped shirt, ballet flats, and bottoms, which are so versatile (shorts, capris, even long pants.) How could anyone possibly go wrong this Spring with such a classic look!

    1. We totally agree Hope! Thanks for the comment! 🙂

  2. Spring is the best time of the year for lots of Bright, Clean, and Powerfully Fresh tones. Mixing and combining colors of the same tone of color, or complimenting color, is safe as is combining, patterns. Whether or not the patterns match is not the focus. Color is the primary factor, and placement. Plus size women are now able to enjoy seasonal trend changing, if they know what colors compliment them, and how to apply them to their own individual taste and style. Having fun with it is always a plus.

  3. I really like trends for this year, bright clothes and fun designs are perfect for the spring, floral print is definitely my favorite.
