Many of us find that our closet is home to two distinct styles of clothes: workwear and weekend wear. But do you ever find a piece that’s so fabulous  you wish you could wear it all week? There are actually plenty of super chic ways to take your favorite pieces and transition them from work to weekend, and day to night. Here are some pointers to getting the most out of your career pieces:

Your favorite blazer

That power blazer jacket you wear when you need a little extra confidence for a presentation has its place in the office. However, since you spent so much money on it, you’d probably like to wear it a bit more often! Spring is the ultimate time to work this piece into your weekend wardrobe in place of one of your plainer in-between season coats. As opposed to wearing your blazer with a blouse and dress slacks like you do in the office, try a pair of cropped pants, strappy heels or pumps and a V-neck tee for the weekend. This will give you an effortless, yet put-together look.

A silk blouse

Whether you opt for a silk or chiffon blouse for the workplace, these shirts just seem right at home with a high waisted pencil skirt and conservative heels. Though that’s not the only way you can rock an office-appropriate blouse. While the weather is still cool, wear your top beneath a denim or moto-style jacket with skinny jeans and some high heeled boots. When it gets warmer, roll up the sleeves on the top and wear it with shorts and sandal wedges. With this knowledge, you won’t feel guilty splurging on a gorgeous new top.

Your trusty pencil skirt

We all love rocking that pencil skirt to the office. It gives you an air of authority and it’s infinitely flattering. However, you can take the confidence that your pencil skirt gives you outside of the workplace without looking like you’re just hitting happy hour on your way home on a Thursday night. To wear your pencil skirts in a more laid-back way, pair them with a vintage tee and strappy high heels or even slide heels for something more casual. Go ahead, strut your way through the grocery store this weekend.

A shift dress

Shift dresses have become synonymous with office wear, but if you love ’em, why confine them to the workplace? Instead of pairing your shift dress with your plain high heel pumps, opt for strappy sandals or flats as the weather warms up. Don’t hesitate to let your hair down and wear some of your bolder accessories – especially if you keep it conservative at the office! This look is perfect for grabbing a coffee with your friends, a drink with your spouse, or a trip to the farmers’ market.

Comfy oxfords

Sometimes, you just don’t feel like teetering on heels all day – which is why women’s oxfords are such a gift to the fashion world. However, you may feel like they still look too professional to be worn on the weekends. But really, you can wear these versatile shoes with just about any outfit. Though they look great with jeans, it’s possible that the best way to dress up a pair of shorts is with oxfords and a tailored button-down. Maybe you can even get away with wearing this to the office!
