3 ways to elevate your go-to sundress

You typically fall back on that one sundress that has always been there for you – like when you’re late to work and have to throw something on right quick, when you have nothing to wear to your niece’s baby shower or when you just can’t seem to find your bathing suit cover up.

It’s like your security blanket. It’s been there through all the job interviews you’ve had ad all the dates you went on before you found the one. It’s even been there for the days where you just need to lounge around the house in something comfortable.

Although you love your trusty sundress, you wish there was something else too it – that little extra oomph of glitz and glam. Lucky for you, we’ve got the key that will help you elevate your go-to sundress.

Here are three ways to jazz up your dress for a night out:

1. All about the shoes

You can wear a sundress on nearly any occasion, but the shoes you choose will hold all the power. Kick off those worn-out flats and slip on some high heel pumps or a pair of black patent leather slingbacks instead. Heels instantly dress any outfit up, so if you’re looking for a quick and simple way to spice up your dress, wearing a pair of heels is all you have to do. Additionally, pumps are the perfect way to elongate and show off those long legs of yours.

2. Choosing the right jacket

If you switch off between the same three shrug cardigans every time you wear your go-to sundress, you’ll never feel any different. Switch it up and wear killer fashion jackets like a boyfriend blazer or leather jacket. You can even explore what it looks like to wear stylish vests or pattered kimonos that are accented with fringe at the bottom. All of these options are a bit dressier than your standard solid-colored cardigans, so mix it up the next time you have a hot date planned.

3. Frost yourself

The best part about owning a casual sundress is that you can go crazy with the fashion jewelry sets – within reason, of course. If you’re running low in the accessories department, you get to shop for all new statement pieces! Not sure where to begin? That’s where we come in. Frost yourself with an array of jewelry pieces like gold hoop earrings paired with a matching gold bangle bracelet. If you’re looking for something with a bit more flair, chandelier earrings will do the trick.

Feeling bold and eager to take your sundress to the next level? You’re going to need to shop for exquisite statement necklaces or costume jewelry sets that have a lot of personality. But, remember, you aren’t performing on Broadway, so don’t get too crazy. Avoid mixing and matching pieces where the colors and designs don’t complement each other well. It’s OK to be bold, but remember: you’re still going for a simple and effortless look.

If you choose to wear a bib necklace – like this Mythical Bird Beaded Necklace or this Glass and Resin Bead Necklace – avoid other flashy items. With their colorful beading and striking artistry, these two delicate pieces speak for themselves. Secure either of these bad boys around your neck and you’ll look something of a masterpiece in your little black sundress.
