Trendy patterns for winter

Trends can be very indicative on what season it is. Bright florals for spring is a common one, while more gingham clothing is sold during the summertime. But what about the cold seasons?

Everyone knows that most people opt for darker colors in the winter like black, gray or navy blue. While these can look great, try and hop on board with some patterns this wintertime. Here are some trendy patterns that you can sport during winter so that your style is always on point:

Houndstooth

This woven pattern has been all over the runway. It’s typically in shades of black and white and can class up any outfit. This pattern is great with outerwear such as women’s blazers or other coats. It’s the perfect combination of masculine and feminine for a timeless look.

Hint: Houndstooth pairs well with a bright accent color such as red or cobalt blue. Rock a fiery red lipstick or throw on a sophisticated pair of blue heels to complete this look.

Tweed

Tweed has been around forever but has made a serious comeback in the last couple of years. Instead of your grandfather’s jacket, there are ways women can look impossibly chic. If you want to try a tweed blazer, pair it with fitted blue jeans and high heels. The contrast between dressy and casual will complete the look. If you’re looking to only dip your toes into tweed, opt for the patterned shoe. Flats and t-strap heels alike look great with this pattern no matter the color combination!

If you’re feeling a little bit more adventurous, try a women’s winter skirt in tweed. The shape of a high-waisted skirt is flattering and creates and hourglass figure. Combined with the design, you’ll be rocking timeless 1960’s look, like you just stepped out of “Mad Men.”

An easy way to liven up tweed is to add a little bling. Accessorize your jackets and skirts with some jewelry to make your getup elegant and formal.

Lace

When it comes to wintertime, nothing is more romantic than lace. Lace dresses, shirts and skirts can make you feel confident and feminine no matter the occasion. A black, lace dress is great for the holiday season including New Years Eve parties and Valentine’s Day. On the other hand, a lace skater skirt can draw attention to the smallest part of your waist and showcase your figure.

Last but not least, don’t forget about lace undergarments. You may be the only one who sees them, but that doesn’t mean they should be skipped. Try a lace bra or nightgown to make you feel confident all over.

Ordering clothes online is easy and quick, however, some women have trouble choosing their perfect size. Luckily, Monroe and Main has a measuring guide on how to find your dress, bra and bust size. That way, you can order clothes that are sure to fit your body.
